Regular Council Meeting and Public Hearing Minutes

 

The Mayor and Board of Aldermen met in regular session Thursday, September 20, 2018, at 5:30 P.M.  Prayer was offered by Town Attorney Brister.   Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mayor Amacker.

 

Roll call was as follows:

 

Present: Alderwoman McDaniel, Alderman Condrey, Alderman Magee

Absent:   Alderman Meadows, Alderman Madere

 

Town Attorney Brister was present.

 

Motion by Alderman Condrey, seconded by Alderman Magee to approve August 16, 2018, Regular Council Meeting Minutes.

 

Yeas:  Alderman McDaniel, Condrey, Magee

Nays:  None

Absent:  Alderman Meadows, Madere

 

Motion carried.

 

Finance Committee Member Alderwoman McDaniel read the following report:  The Town of Lake Providence Finance Committee met Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at 3:30 P.M. to approve financial reports including budget to actuals and bills received for the month ending August 31, 2018.  Members present were Alderman Magee, Alderwoman McDaniel, Mayor Robert N. Amacker, Jr., and Lee Ann W. Clement, Town Clerk. General Journal entries were reviewed for the month of August,2018.  The following recommendations were made by the finance committee: to meet with supervisors and department heads to seek cost effective measures.

 

Motion by Alderwoman McDaniel, seconded by Alderman Condrey to approve Finance Committee Report, and all financial reports for the month ending August, 2018.

Nays:  None

Absent:  Alderman Meadows, Madere

 

Motion carried.

 

Motion by Alderwoman McDaniel, seconded by Alderman Condrey to approve Resolution # 12-2018 – A Resolution approving the compliance audit questionnaire for FY ending June 30, 2018.

 

Yeas:  Alderman McDaniel, Condrey, Magee

Nays:  None

Absent:  Alderman Meadows, Madere

 

Motion carried.

 

At approximately 5:40 P.M. Mayor Amacker closed regular session and opened a public hearing to hear public comments regarding consideration of adopting an Ordinance abandoning Town owned property at the end of Frederick Street of approximately 50 x 175 ft.

No Comments were received from the public.

 

At approximately 5:42 P.M. Mayor Amacker closed the public hearing and entered back into regular session.

 

Motion by Alderman Magee, seconded by Alderwoman McDaniel to adopt “An Ordinance abandoning Town owned property at the end of Frederick Street of approximately 50 x 175 ft.”

Nays:  None

Absent:  Alderman Meadows, Madere

 

Motion carried.

 

Motion by Alderman Condrey, seconded by Alderman Magee to approve an occupational license and alcohol beverage permit license for Zip’s Cajun Restaurant, LLC.

 

Yeas:  Alderman McDaniel, Condrey, Magee

Nays:  None

Absent:  Alderman Meadows, Madere

 

Motion carried.

 

Motion by Alderman Magee, seconded by Alderwoman McDaniel to approve recommendations from Chief Threats to hire Ken Phillips as a part time dispatcher, and part-time fill in officer when needed, and to change employment status of Officer Brandon Burch to a part time police officer.
